"KFC has pulled a controversial
TV ad amid claims its depiction
of a white Australian cricket fan
offering fried chicken to
West Indies supporters is racist." -ABC news.au
Lol. Americans are one big bunch of nosy, self indulgent, ignorant, we-Americans-know-everything-thats-is-going-on-because-our-country-is-a-huge-ass-super-power type assholes don't you think? Ok, I don't want to generalise here; maybe not all, but most with access to international media and internet are. If you guys are really keen on knowing what's going on, click on this link.
For the rest of you. here's the gist of it. Apparently this ad was made by the KFC corp in Australia for their Australian cricket season; and some one just HAD to post it up online or somewhere the Americans could get their hands on it and view it, and now there's a huge uproar as the Americans claim it to be racist. For those of you who don't know; here's the ad.
Ok, so that's the infamous 20 seconds of 'racism'. I agree it may look like it plays on the stereotype that black people love fried chicken. But, let me ask you this? Where do you think this stereotype was coined? In Australia? NO! It was from the 'good old' US of A. I don't think the people in Aussie land even thought about this stereotype that runs wild in the USA when they made that video. To them, it's just a cricket fan of a different team caught in the wrong side of the stadium; IE: with the opposing side's fans.
So what did he do to lighten the atmosphere? He shared some food. Unfortunately for the Aussies, the food mentioned here is fried chicken, and out came the Americans blasting it down as racist. Why are these people so nosy about something that has nothing to do with their country? No one in Australia is complaining about it. I don't know why Americans think that a stereotype that was created in the USA would be of any significance outside of it.
Oh wait; I do know why. It's because they're Americans. Everything revolves around them remember? These are the same people who think Malaysians still lived in trees; if at first they know where or what Malaysia actually is. The same people who live half their lives stalking celebrities. The same people who 'so badly want an end to racism' but still allow the KKK to thrive as a LEGAL organisation. My bad. I am sorry.
Grow up, will ya?
